Full Menu of FRM Measures
What are all the measures?
We use these icons below to help the public better understand the possible solutions for flooding. These measures can be features or management activities. Many of the well-known features are at the bottom right. Many the management activities are at the top. These can be combined in many different ways. Alternatives are formulated with various combinations of both types of the measures, and those alternatives are used in capital budgeting processes, whether a communities CIP or a federal planning study.
Legislation by Congress has brought about defining measures in another way, as structural and nonstructural. Most of those at the top and left are nonstructural. The structural ones are synonymous with features, although some confusion happens with buildings and floodproofing. Those are nonstructural. Some coastal ones, along the bottom, may be either.
